Your lifespan is more heritable than you were told.

For years the consensus was that how long you live is mostly luck and lifestyle. Classic twin studies put the heritability of lifespan at just 20–25% — but a 2025 re-analysis found those figures were diluted by chance events like accidents and infections. Correct for them, and the genetic share more than doubles.
